Do ROKR latches work with soft-close drawers?
ROKR latches work great with soft-close drawers.
If a drawer is hard to open, it's almost always the soft-close runners creating the resistance, not the latch. If a drawer doesn't reach the "Click/Locked" position, it's usually because the runners or joinery aren't bringing the drawer fully home.
The latch provides the positive lock. The drawer runners and joinery determine how the drawer opens and closes.
Do Rokr latches work with Ikea or Kaboodle furniture?
Yes. We've had many customers successfully install ROKR latches on IKEA and Kaboodle drawers.
Some adjustments may be required depending on the cabinet design. In particular, we recommend maintaining approximately 3 mm gaps between drawer fronts and, in some cases, moving the top cross rail back around 45 mm to provide clearance for the latch mechanism.
As with any installation, correct alignment and positioning are important for smooth operation.
Can the latch just catch on the drawer above.
Yes, it can, and many customers do install them this way.
However, we recommend fitting a rail and catch plate for each latch wherever possible. This ensures every drawer has its own positive locking point.
If all drawers are catching on the drawer above, the entire stack is ultimately being held closed by a single catch at the top, which is not ideal for maximum security and long-term reliability.
It's worth noting that virtually every caravan, motorhome, boat and van drawer or cupboard requires its own frame, rail, face or structure for the latch to engage with. ROKR latches are no different. While catching on the drawer above can work, a dedicated catch plate is the preferred installation method for maximum reliability and performance.
